Girls Athlete of the Week: Catalina Alonso of Polytechnic School

Accomplishments: Alonso played a big role in the Panthers’ two victories this week, and Poly is still in the hunt for a Prep League title. Alonso went 3 for 3 with a single, double and home run in a 10-0 victory over Rio Hondo Prep. She scored three runs and had five RBIs. In the 20-3 win over Firebaugh, Alonso went 2 for 4, scored three runs, and drove in another. The Panthers are one-half game behind Chadwick with a week to go, but they host the Dolphins on Monday, and handed Chadwick their only Prep League loss this season.
