City issues updated guidelines on Thursday

[Updated] City officials announced a new order on Thursday allowing dog groomers to resume operations.

Under the guidelines, customers may not enter the business, no walk-in customers are allowed business operations are by appointment only.

The guidelines were released along with guidelines allowing all retail businesses to do curbside business and new guidelines for car washes and restaurants that accept take out and deliver orders.

·       Allow dog grooming and boarding operations to resume business

·       All services are by appointment only and (human) customers do not enter the facility

·       Employees must physically distance while working

·       Employees must disinfect grooming tools, boarding equipment, and commonly touched surfaces between clients or more frequently

·       Dog walkers are advised to use their own walking equipment, and to limit in-person communication with the dog owner

A similar order was released in L.A. County also on Wednesday.

Since the Safer at Home order was put in place pet care has been one of the most controversial businesses, with locals declaring the dog groomers should be essential businesses.

According to the order, employees and customers must wear face coverings. Customers without face coverings can not be served.

Only individuals with chronic respiratory conditions, or other medical conditions that make use of a mask hazardous, are exempted from this requirement.

Children under age 2 years should not wear a face covering.

Social distancing shall be observed and enforced by the business operator.

Complete payment in advance by offering online or phone options. If the transaction must be conducted in person, instruct employees to refrain from touching the face afterward, to accept cash or cards on a tray rather than directly into their hands, to sanitize the payment system and tray, and to wash hands with soap and water after each transaction.

Instruct customers to wait in the vehicle and to call the store when they arrive. Communicate with customers by phone or text message.
