Mayor-Elect Gordo to Be Sworn In By Former Councilmember, Current Superior Court Judge Bill Crowfoot

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge and former City Councilman William Crowfoot will swear in Victor Gordo as Pasadena’s next mayor at 2 p.m. at Monday’s organizational meeting.

Gordo served as Crowfoot’s field representative during Crowfoot’s two terms on the Pasadena City Council from 1993 to 2001.

Crowfoot won the District 5 seat after district lines were redrawn based on census data to increase voting opportunities for the city’s growing Latino population.

Redistricting is mandated every decade by demographic changes reflected in the U.S. Census.

Gordo successfully ran for the District 5 seat after Crowfoot stepped down.

The organizational meeting occurs the fifth Monday after the November General Election and marks the end and start of terms for the outgoing and newly elected mayor and city council. The City Council also elects a vice mayor from its members.

The meeting will begin at noon with presentations and recognitions of service to outgoing Mayor Terry Tornek and Councilmember Margaret McAustin.

New Councilmember Felicia Williams will also be sworn in by City Clerk Mark Jomsky, along with incumbent Councilmembers Tyron Hampton, Gene Masuda, and Steve Madison.

The council will also elect a new vice mayor at the meeting. Based on seniority, District 7 Councilmember Andy Wilson is scheduled to get the position.

The vice mayor performs the mayoral duties in the absence of the mayor.

Wilson’s term as vice mayor will end on Dec. 12, 2022.
