Guest Opinion | Farewell Message from Mayor Tornek

Published on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 | 5:05 pm

As most of you know, my term as Mayor will end on December 7, 2020. Councilmember Victor Gordo will become Mayor at that time and I wish him well.

It has been a real privilege to be able to serve a City that has been so wonderful to my family since 1982. I have tried my best and I believe that during the past 5 years we have made real progress in many areas.

I know that positive results are the result of a collective effort. So, I want to express my gratitude to the expert and hard-working City staff, to my colleagues on the City Council, to the volunteers who serve on our City Commissions and non-profit organizations and to my wife and family.

Pasadena is being buffeted by the COVID Pandemic and cries for social justice. We will feel the consequences of both for some time to come- but I believe that as a community, we are up to the challenge.

Our City and our Nation face challenging times, but with God’s blessings. I am confident that we shall overcome.

Mayor Terry Tornek
