Hathaway-Sycamores Hosts Family-Friendly BBQ to Support Foster Youth

Published on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 | 12:30 pm

Hathaway-Sycamores hosted BBQ Bash 4 the Boys at its El Nido Residential Campus in Altadena on May 18, 2018. Guests enjoyed delicious, home-cooked barbecue, local brews from Craft Beer Cellar Eagle Rock, and blues music from The Mid-City Ramblers. There was fun to be had for guests of all ages with life-sized board games, face painting from Artistic LA, story time and music with Books and Cookies LA’s Chudney Ross, Bubblemania’s giant bubblemaking, and the Flash Life Photo Booth to capture memories of the evening.

Guests also had the opportunity to tour the campus and learn more about the programs which support foster youth who live there, including Foster Care and Adoption Services, Shelter Care and out-of-home care for boys with severe challenges that prevent them from living safely at home. Many of the youth who come to El Nido have suffered from trauma, abuse or neglect in the past. They live in cottages on the 5-acre campus, where relatives, case workers, and clinicians work in partnership to reunite them with family. Hathaway-Sycamores is dedicated to supporting and guiding these children towards more promising futures.

Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance the living environment for the 50 foster youth residing on the campus. For more information on Hathaway Sycamores’ programs and how you can support them, visit
