Hearing Officer to Consider Three Cases on Wednesday

Published on Monday, September 14, 2020 | 3:00 am

Pasadena’s Hearing Officer on Wednesday will consider three land use issues Wednesday, one an application for a hillside development permit to allow the construction of a 5,235 square-foot, two-story, single-family residence at 1065 La Loma Road in City Council District 6.

The hearing begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be online on Zoom.

The site is located within the RS-4 HD – the single-family residential, hillside overlay district – zoning district and requires a hillside development permit, according to the agenda prepared by the Department of Housing.

The application also showed the proposed two-story residence will be constructed over a partially subterranean 756 square-foot garage and an 819 square foot basement.

In another regular case to be heard Wednesday, the owners of 54 and 56 S. San Marino Ave., in Council District 7, are applying for a Vesting Tentative Parcel Map (VTPM) to allow the creation of three air parcels on one lot for residential condominium purposes.

The three-unit residential project received Consolidated Design Review approval on Jan. 31, 2018. The Housing Department said this current application concerns only the creation of air parcels that will allow the sale of each dwelling unit. It does not address the design or construction of the three-unit project and does not include any proposed changes to the previously approved Design Review.

The Hearing Officer has also scheduled a public hearing of a minor case, at 388 W. Colorado Blvd. in Council District 6, where the applicant is seeking a minor variance permit to be able to develop a proposed 620 square-foot, single-story medical office building. Specifically, the applicant is requesting that it be allowed to adjust the required five-foot front setback on Colorado Boulevard and allow a zero-foot setback on Colorado Boulevard, and the same adjustment on the project’s Melrose Avenue side.

Members of the community are encouraged to take part in the public hearing and contribute input when necessary.
