New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, prompting Pasadena officials to issue a friendly reminder that no trash will be collected on Friday, New Year’s Day.

There are a few other things that will be closed on Friday, and if you need to dispose of your Christmas tree, don’t forget to drop it off at any of the local recycling centers before or after Friday.

“The city of Pasadena WILL NOT have trash collection on Friday, January 1st. Trash, Recycling and Yard Waste collection will have a one day delay for residents with Friday pick up,” the city’s Public Works Department said in a message posted on the city’s website.

For Christmas tree disposal, crews will be available to pick up your tree curbside during the first two weeks of January, on regularly scheduled collection days and routes. Christmas trees may be trimmed to fit in your yard waste container (black lid) for recycling. Be sure to remove all lighting and decorations beforehand.

From now up to Jan. 4, drop your used tree off at either Eaton Blanche Park, 3100 E. Del Mar Blvd., or Robinson Park, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. Simply bring the tree to the parking lot on Millicent Way near Eaton Blanche Park, or to the parking lot on Morton Street near Robinson Park, between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to a Public Works advisory.

For more information, call the Citizen Service Center at (626) 744-7311.
