In the tapestry of American religious life, Asian American churches hum with a vibrant energy yet their communities face distinct challenges. Many grapple with the pressures of assimilation, the weight of cultural expectations, and the need for spiritual guidance that bridges the gap between tradition and contemporary experience. Recognizing this unique landscape, Fuller Theological Seminary is stepping forward to host the inaugural Communities of Hope Conference on May 16, 2024.

Organized by Fuller’s Asian American Well-being Collaboratory, the gathering will aim to promote well-being within Asian American communities through collaborative approaches to bringing hope, healing, and wholeness.

The conference will feature a range of speakers from the Southern California community, including Asian American pastors, ministry leaders, and mental health practitioners. According to the event’s Eventbrite page, the conference will include panel discussions and presentations on topics such as “Well-Being and Health in the Life of the Church,” as well as sessions addressing gender and generational issues and the collaboration between therapists and pastors.

“This pivotal event will gather Asian American pastors, ministry leaders, and mental health practitioners from Southern California to promote well-being within their communities,” the seminary stated in its announcement.

The Communities of Hope Conference will take place on Thursday, May 16, from 9:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Payton Hall 101 on Fuller Theological Seminary’s campus in Pasadena, California.
