Jiin Park, a Spatial Experience Design student at ArtCenter College of Design, has been crowned Emerging Designer of the Year by the prestigious LIV Hospitality Design Awards, catapulting her into the global spotlight.

Park’s award-winning design for the wine tasting restaurant RADIANT showcases her innovative approach to spatial design. By using natural light to create a dynamic atmosphere that changes with the sun’s phases, her design invites patrons to experience wine tasting in a novel way, reflecting the colors of different wine varieties.

“The quote, ‘Wine is sunlight held together by water’ reminded me of how the sun’s phase changes throughout the day, and the color of the sky reflects the various types of wines (white, rose, red, sparkling). Based on this, I created a design concept, a savory journey through the sun’s timeless phases,” Park explained.

The LIV Hospitality Design Awards is an esteemed international competition that celebrates quality and excellence in hospitality design across various categories and scales. By recognizing Park as the Emerging Designer of the Year, the awards have not only highlighted her innovative approach to spatial design but also placed her work on an international platform, acknowledging her potential to influence future trends in hospitality design.

Park’s achievement is particularly significant as an emerging designer, as this recognition can propel her career forward by opening doors to new opportunities and collaborations.

ArtCenter College of Design was founded in 1930.
