Intruders Sought in 2 ‘Hot Prowl’ Burglaries in Pasadena’s Hastings Ranch Neighborhood

Burglars broke into two homes in the Hastings Ranch neighborhood of Pasadena while residents were inside on Monday, police said.

The first break-in took place about 12:15 p.m. in the 3500 block of Ranch Top Road, Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.

Two teenage sisters were at the home as two men were seen loitering on the property for several minutes, he said.

One of the men then smashed a window before both made their way into the home, according to Dawkins.

Meanwhile, the victims hid upstairs and called police.

The burglars grabbed jewelry and ran off, he said.

One was described by police as a Black man between 25 and 30, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, 170 pounds, with a dark complexion. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, white shoes, black gloves and a white mask.

The second burglar was described as a Black man in his 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds, of thin build, wearing a black hoodie, black pants and black shoes.

Another “hot prowl” burglary was reported about 7:45 p.m. about a mile-and-a-half to the south in the 3700 block of Landfair Road, Dawkins said.

A woman in her 70s was home alone when she heard noises coming from behind her home.

She then heard her doorbell ring, followed by “loud banging,” according to the lieutenant. The frightened resident called 911.

Responding officers discovered the home’s front door had been knocked loose from its frame, and a window screen at the rear of the home had been cut, Dawkins said.

It did not appear the intruder or intruders managed to steal anything, he added.

No suspect description was available in connection with the Landfair Road break-in.
