Guy Gotslak, president of the self-directed crypto-IRA (individual retirement account) investment platform My Digital Money (MDM), is planning to team up with Pasadena organizations and schools in educating children on cryptocurrencies and how they can benefit from them.

In an interview with Pasadena Now, Gotslak lamented that many people are not taking cryptocurrency seriously, saying the company wants to offer education about digital investing to local students.

“We do believe that it’s going to be a normal part of life,” said Gotslak. “It’s going to be the future. So I think the earlier that kids can learn about it the better.”

Gotslak said the company plans to make cryptocurrencies and digital investing easier to understand by the public so people will know its benefits.

According to Gotslak, the company recently launched new features to improve the experience of MDM users, including automated trigger orders, play money account capabilities, and military-grade security to prevent malicious threats or attempted thefts from a user’s cryptocurrency funds.

He said the play money feature might be an interesting “educational tool” for children, as this will enable them to test the platform with fake money.

Aside from the additional features he mentioned, Gotslak said MDM is working on adding more features for its users.

“We are working on adding a lot more coins now. We’re working on opening it up to lending, so you can lend your crypto and earn interest on it,” Gotslak said.

“We’re working on taxable accounts and being able to invest using cash, not just your IRA, for retirement so you can do day-to-day trading too,” he said.

MDM, a Pasadena-based firm founded earlier this year, provides a retirement account in which people can buy, sell and trade cryptocurrencies. Gotslak co-founded the firm with CEO Collin Plume.

Prior to his appointment as president of MDM on July 27, Gotslak served as the vice president of global solutions at NGDATA, a software company in New York.
