Telly R. Johnson, 42, of Los Angeles, is scheduled to appear in a Pasadena courtroom Monday morning for a pretrial hearing in the stabbing death of 52-year-old Byron Nettles of Pasadena.
Nettles was stabbed to death on March 1, 2019, in the 100 block of South Euclid Avenue.
Officers had discovered Nettles suffering from stab wounds in the 100 block of South Euclid Avenue. Despite being rushed to the hospital and undergoing surgery, Nettles succumbed to his wounds.
Johnson was arrested later that day in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors allege that Johnson stabbed Nettles in a jealous rage after learning that Nettles was having an affair with Johnson’s girlfriend.
Johnson has pleaded not guilty to murder. He faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted.
The pretrial hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in Department F of the Pasadena Courthouse.
