It’s What He Brings to the Table

“I’ll never forget what my grandfather once told me. ‘Don’t concentrate on success. Concentrate on the client. It’s the client’s interest that comes first. Then, you will be a success. Concentrate on the client and success will come as a by-product.’”

Those are the words of wisdom by Real Estate Agent Steven Galindo of Keller Williams Realty were actually spoken by his grandfather more than 20 years ago when he first became an agent. He says the best way to find a good agent is to look for an agent who has experience and negotiating skills.

“The things you should look for in a realtor are negotiating skills and experience,” says Galindo. “An experienced agent has seen many situations and knows how to deal with it versus a rookie who may not. An experienced agent knows how to guide you through a transaction. A good agent should know the contracts backwards and forward and know how to explain it and how to design it in the best interest of the client.”

Galindo has been in the real estate industry since 1988, and he says it’s his experience that can guide clients through a smooth transaction. He maintains that, just like a doctor when you’re sick, or a mechanic when you have car problems, you need an agent with knowledge and experience when buying or selling property.

“As it relates to real estate, there is no difference in any profession,” Galindo states. If you need a good attorney, you want one who works hard and knows how the justice system works and knows how to work with judges. A really good lawyer has knowledge of the law and he has experience.

“You can be fresh out of law school with tons of knowledge, but in the courtroom, it’s a whole different ballpark,” continues Galindo. “Now, you have a judge and a jury in front of you and you need to know how to finesse them both. It’s the same with an agent. You need a good agent who brings knowledge and experience to the table working for you.”

With over 20 years experience in the real estate industry, Galindo maintains he knows contracts and documents “inside and out.” He says his focus is on complete satisfaction for his clients.

“Anyone can search a website and find a piece of property,” Galindo says. “But when it comes down to negotiating, if you choose someone just because they have a nice website, you are rolling the dice. You need someone to guide you through the process of buying or selling.

“As a realtor, you have to wear many hats—lawyer, best friend, negotiator, psychologist,” says Galindo. “You’re asking them to invest in something that is probably the single largest investment of their life. I want to guide my clients through the process and help them secure the home they are looking for.”
