The Lamanda Park Branch library, 140 S. Altadena Dr., reopened on Wednesday, March 16 after it was shuttered due to damages caused by falling Oak tree branches.

“It was closed for a couple of days but Lamanda Park library has reopened again as of today,” Tim McDonald, Acting Library Director said during the meeting of the Library Commission on Wednesday, March 16.

Heavy winds caused the massive tree branches to fall last Friday, March 11, according to McDonald. No one was injured in the incident.

He thanked crews from several departments including public works and parks and recreation for responding to the incident quickly.

“The building was found to be structurally safe but it needed some roofing repairs. They got to work on that quickly,” he said.

According to McDonald, the incident did not impact the timeline for the pocket park that is going to be constructed soon in the east of the library.
