On June 10, 2013, Langham Hotels around the world will celebrate the anniversary of Europe’s first grand luxury hotel, The Langham, London, with a quintessentially British tradition: Tiffin Afternoon Tea. Each Langham Hotel will turn back the clock to 1865, when The Langham, London originally opened, and serve signature Afternoon Tea on June 10 for its original price of 1 shilling, 6 pence (or 15 cents).

Tea reservations for The Langham Huntington, Pasadena are fully committed but the hotel is also acknowledging the anniversary by celebrating Langham’s Innovations within the Hospitality Industry and giving away a Two Night Stay, plus Breakfast and Valet Parking to one guest who provides the most innovative feedback about How We Can Create the Most Delightful Arrival or Departure Experience.

From June 10-17, there will be feedback cards in each guestroom and in the hotel’s restaurants asking guests to submit their ideas. Guests may fill out the feedback form and leave it in their guestroom, with their server or at the front desk. At the end of the week, hotel management will select the winning idea and the winner will receive a complimentary two night stay, with breakfast for two and valet parking!

Langham Hotels: Innovating Since 1865

Did you know that The Langham, London was the first hotel in Europe to have hydraulic lifts (elevators) and hot and cold running water in all guestrooms? It was a groundbreaking establishment and a highly sought after destination at the time. For 148 years, Langham has been redefining hospitality by generating fresh ideas and modern innovations.

• Food & Beverage – Building on its afternoon tea heritage, Langham has developed four unique tea blends, including The Langham Blend, Silk Road Blend, English Flower Blend and Palm Court Exotic Blend. Langham has also created an exclusive range of gourmet chocolate bars in flavors that include espresso, sea salt, toffee, almond and milk chocolate crisp.

• Service and Brand Signatures – Every Langham Hotel around the world has a Service Stylist in its lobby, providing an additional layer of service to guests, anticipating their needs and exceeding their expectations. Every Hotel also has a special Change of Day ceremony at 7:05pm. At The Langham Huntington, we ring an antique railroad bell in the Courtyard, symbolizing Henry Huntington’s great contributions to the hotel and the surrounding community.

• Ideas – Langham has implemented a “Think Pink” intranet portal for employees to submit new ideas or provide recommendations on how the hotels can do things better. It is an easy tool for colleagues to provide their suggestions and receive regular feedback from the management team. New ideas from colleagues are implemented at the hotels on a monthly basis, and colleagues are acknowledged and rewarded for their positive contributions to the company.

For 148 years, Langham has been redefining hospitality by continuously generating fresh ideas and modern innovations. Through these efforts, and the practice of listening to our guests, Langham Hospitality Group continues to strive to new levels of service and industry best practices.
