Learn at Your Own Pace Through Halstrom Academy’s ‘Individualistic’ Learning Approach

Having only one teaching method for students with varying academic needs and pacing may alienate some students and leave them behind their other classmates.

Halstrom Academy has offered “customizable approach to learning” to help each student improve their grades and scores as well as their time management skills despite the differences in their personality and pacing.

Among Halstrom’s unique education methods are one-to-one instruction system, flexible scheduling and open enrollment options.

Students and parents who want to know more about Halstrom’s programs and how they are proven to improve the learning rate of most of their students may attend the school’s open house set for Wednesday, February 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Attendees will be able to take a tour of the school, meet the teachers and students, and learn more about why 1:1 instruction is empowering students to succeed inside and outside of school.

Halstrom’s 1:1 instruction system allows the student and teacher to build a working relationship where the student learns at their own pace, whether the student is on campus or online. Halstrom’s instruction is based on the research of Dr. Benjamin Bloom from the University of Chicago which shows that learning occurs at a rate of 98 percent with one-to-one instruction.

Students will also learn more about the school’s flexible scheduling options that help students finish their course work while doing extracurricular activities such as being actors, athletes or working professionals.

Halstrom’s content mastery approach requires a minimum of an 80 percent understanding of the lesson to ensure a solid foundation of knowledge before moving on to the next concept or course, resulting in better retention and the ability to apply information learned.

This private middle school is one of the first schools in Southern California to introduce e-textbooks/iPads into the curriculum. The use of technology helps prepare students for tomorrow’s world and the iPads are full of learning applications to use at their discretion.

Halstrom Academy is located at 35 N. Lake Dr. For more information, call (626) 509-6505 or visit http://www.halstromacademy.org.
