Assemblymember Chris Holden is again partnering with Shoes That Fit to host his Annual Give and Go Shoe Drive on Saturday, Dec. 10, in front of his district office at 600 North Rosemead Blvd. in Pasadena.
This will be a contactless Give and Go shoe drive where community members can make a difference by donating a new pair of athletic shoes in any size for school-aged children in need.
“Each year, it brings me great joy to put together this event with Shoes That Fit,” Assemblyman Holden said. “The holiday season is the best time to make a difference in your community, and the gift of a new pair of shoes can make a profound impact on a child’s physical and mental health I’m looking forward to seeing how many shoes and socks we collect this year!”
Assemblyman Holden usually has an open house at the district office around this time of the year, but will have to postpone it due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instead, after dropping off their shoe donations, community members who wish to discuss legislative or community issues with him or his staff are advised to park in the parking lot, keep their masks on, and wait for staff to approach.
Shoes That Fit, based in Claremont, has raised over 2.3 million pairs of new shoes to date to help school-aged children and young adults build their confidence and self-esteem with their best foot forward. Today, Shoes That Fit helps more than 100,000 children annually at more than 2,500 schools across the United States.
Thanks to the community’s participation, Assemblymember Holden’s shoe drive has collected over 1,000 pairs of shoes and socks for Shoes That Fit over the years.
Saturday’s Give and Go shoe drive will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
