Local Culinary Luminary Named To World Food Championships Ambassador Council

Altadena’s own multi-award winning food sport competitor, Jodi Taffel, a.k.a. The Fabulous Bacon Babe, has just been named to the prestigious Ambassador Council of The World Food Championships.

Taffel is uniquely qualified to join the 6 member Ambassador Council, having placed in the Top 5 of the Bacon World Championships at World Food Championships each time she’s competed. Her role as Ambassador will prevent her from being a competitor in 2017, as she will be instrumental in making the championships bigger and better by looking at all angles, processes and rules as well as ensuring fairness and a level playing field for all competitors.
After winning competitions such as The Gilroy Garlic Festival, The California Strawberry Festival, The Big Bite Bacon Festival and placing 1st out of 7,328 entries in The Westminster Cheddar Recipe Contest, moving on to such a vaulted position is a natural next step for this self-proclaimed Bacon Babe.

The World Food Championships is the largest competition in Food Sport, where champions of previous events convene annually for a chance at winning the Ultimate Food Fight and a share of more than $300,000 in cash and prizes. Going into its sixth year, The World Food Championships platform ranges from live-event competitions to a robust multimedia platform that helps pro chefs, home cooks, and competition teams achieve food fame and fortune as TV’s next big food stars.
