Local Grassroots Organization Announces Juneteenth Slate

My TRIBE Rise will hold its 4th annual Juneteenth Celebration, “Let Freedom Ring” on June 15 at Metropolitan Baptist Church.

MY TRIBE RISE is a grassroots organization based in Altadena which also serves the neighboring city of Pasadena. The organization is focused on community service and development, aiming to address public safety, food and housing insecurities, economic development, and solutions to cure violence.

The group said it is partnering with Metropolitan Baptist Church, Flintridge Center, Music Changing Lives, Side Street Projects, and Hawks Village of Leadership.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a Justice, Peace and Freedom March, a complimentary community breakfast and a celebration and festival.

The My TRIBE Rise Academic Scholarship Program will present three scholarships to Pasadena Unified School District 2024 graduates for $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000.

This scholarship program is in efforts of educational justice and to encourage and support students with their academic careers and inspirations! Scholarship details and application will post on May 1, through May 20. For more information visit:

Ingrid Archie will serve as the guest speaker at the event. Archie is the spokesperson and advocate for Survivors Speak and the director of Time Done!

My TRIBE Rise will honor Assemblyman Chris Holden and State Senator Anthony Portantino.
