Local Leaders Bid Farewell to Retiring Foothill Workforce Development Board Director Phillip Dunn

The Foothill Workforce Development Board (FWDB) met today in celebration of the retirement of its Executive Director, Phillip Dunn, who will be stepping down at year’s end after 33 years of service, the last 25 as the oganization’s Executive Director.

Under Dunn’s leadership, FWDB has acquired millions of dollars in workforce development funds to help local job seekers find gainful employment and has assisted hundreds of employers find qualified employees, helping to sustain and grow the regional economy and especially the six cities served by the FWDB.

“I have had the pleasure of serving with Phillip on this Board for over twenty years. Phillip’s professionalism, knowledge and expertise have guided the organization through many successful years of getting people jobs, supporting our youth, and driving one of the most successful work programs for emancipated foster youth in the nation. Phillip will be missed!” said Tony Tartaglia, Chair of the Foothill Workforce Development Board and Regional Affairs Manager for Southern California Gas Company.

Robert Joe, who chairs the Foothill Policy Board of Elected Officials from six cities and a South Pasadena City Councilmember said “Phil Dunn truly believes that the FWDB can make a difference and does make a difference in the everyday lives of many members of our community.”

The Foothill Workforce Development Board is a federally -unded entity that provides services for job seekers and employers for a consortium of six cities: Arcadia, Duarte, Monrovia, Pasadena, Sierra Madre, and South Pasadena. FWDB is one of seven workforce boards in Los Angeles County and has been designated as a “High Performing Board” by the California Workforce Development Board and California Governor Jerry Brown.

In addition to Dunn’s retirement, Steve Chase, FWDB planning manager, is also retiring. Chase has served in this capacity for over 25 years and both staff members will be greatly missed.

FWDB Chair Tartaglia announced that Dianne Russell-Carter has been named as the FWDB Interim Director.
