Altadena Search and Rescue Team started searching at 11:30 p.m. Sunday night for two lost hikers in the area of Rubio Canyon, in Angeles National Forest.

Authorities said the lost hikers were able to call 911 and say they were lost in the mountains above Altadena.

Altadena Search and Rescue Team responded into Rubio Canyon and located the missing hikers and their dog, Cheerios, on the Incline Trail, Altadena Sheriff’s said.

The hikers, a 22-year-old man and a 12 year-old-female, both Los Angeles residents, were not injured.

The hikers started a hike at 4:00 pm and became lost on an unfamiliar trail in the darkness. The rescue team got the hikers to their car at 2:00 a.m., authorities said.
