Lyon Earns Democratic Party Endorsements in District 7 City Council Race

Planning Commission Vice Chair Jason Lyon announced today that he has received several key Democratic endorsements in the race for City Council in District 7.

Lyon is facing Ciran Hadjian and Allen Shay to fill the seat being vacated by Vice-Mayor Andy Wilson.

Lyon said he was endorsed by the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, Arroyo Democratic Club, and Democrats of Pasadena Foothills last week.

“I can’t tell you what an honor it is to have such broad support from the Democratic party,” said Lyon. “The theme of this campaign has been about welcoming every voice to our community conversation, and that includes people from every political perspective. I’m grateful that our message resonated with the L.A. County Democratic Party and both of our local Democratic clubs. They recognize, as I do, that we are stronger as a community when we focus on common ground and not on what divides us.”

Lyon won the Arroyo Democratic Club vote after receiving the unanimous support of the club’s Research and Steering Committees. Lyon was also endorsed last week by ACT, a nonpartisan grassroots political organization dedicated to progressive values.

Prior to the DPF membership’s vote for Lyon, its Endorsement Recommendation Committee praised his “impressive list of endorsers,” “creative environmental proposals,” and willingness to engage with the community.”

Lyon previously received the endorsement of the Stonewall Democratic Club, which advocates for LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion.

In addition to supporting Lyon, the L.A. County Democratic Party endorsed Jess Rivas for City Council in District 5.
