A man attacked two people with a fencing sword on Sunday during a dispute over parking in a Pasadena neighborhood, police said.
Walt Wilkerson, 31, of Pasadena was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon following the alleged attack, which took place shortly before 11 a.m. in the 200 block of Ohio Street, according to Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records.
A woman and her boyfriend told police what when they arrived home, Wilkerson was standing in the driveway, preventing them from parking, said Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema.
When the woman confronted Wilkerson about blocking her path, he pulled a three-foot-long metal fencing foil and struck her with it, Hettema said. The woman suffered abrasions and bruising.
The man came to her aid and was also struck with the sword, suffering a significant cut to his head, Hettema said. The male victim managed to detain the suspect until officers arrived and took him into custody. Police recovered the fencing foil.
Sunday’s violence appeared to stem from an ongoing dispute between the neighbors, Hettema said.
Neither victim wished to be taken to a hospital for treatment.
Bail for Wilkerson was set at $30,000 pending his initial appearance in Los Angeles County Superior Court, records show.
