A man was in custody after shots were fired in downtown Pasadena on Wednesday morning.
The incident began around 10 a.m. on Los Robles Avenue just south of Walnut Street, police said, just two blocks east of police headquarters.
One report indicated an altercation had erupted between a driver and a pedestrian which escalated.
The pedestrian then reportedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on the driver, who fled the scene.
Police were called at 10:10 a.m. The suspect was located a short time and arrested later near Los Robles Avenue. Police found evidence that a shooting had occurred.
A firearm was recovered at the crime scene.
The person in custody is a 44-year-old man who has not yet been identified by police. He was booked for assault with firearm.
Police do not know if other suspects may have been involved in the incident.
Los Robles Avenue was closed from Walnut Street south to Colorado Boulevard for several hours for the investigation.
The whereabouts and condition of the victim driver of the vehicle was not known by authorities. There were no reports of shooting victims presenting themselves at local hospitals who might have been involved in the incident.
Police said Thursday morning they have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
