Police arrested a man after they say he fought with security guards and attempted to stab one of them at Pasadena restaurant Thursday night.
Jose Lubas-Reyes, 36, of Pasadena was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon following the 9 p.m. incident at El Cholo, 300 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Russo said.
He began banging on the door of the restaurant and was confronted by security, he said.
A fight ensued between Lubas-Reyes and three security guards.
He punched one security guard in the face and lunged at another with a knife, Russo said.
The knife failed to puncture the security guard’s skin, resulting in only an abrasion, he said.
The guards managed to wrestle the suspect into custody, handcuff him and hold him until police arrived, Russo said.
The reason behind the dispute was not clear.
Information regarding Lunas-Reyes’ bail amount and initial court appearance was not available Friday afternoon.
