Police arrested a man Monday minutes after they say he robbed a Pasadena pharmacy of prescription medication.
The crime took place about 10:15 a.m. at Walgreens, 310 S. Lake Ave., Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.
The robbery suspect, identified as 36-year-old Willian Brian Jennings of Huntington Beach, walked up to an employee at the pharmacy counter and handed over a note demanding “painkillers” and claiming the suspect had a gun, according to Dawkins.
An employee surrendered a bottle of Xanax and the robber left the store, he said.
Responding officers spotted Jennings, who matched the description of the robber, as he got into a car nearby, Dawkins said.
Police took him into custody without a struggle and recovered the just-stolen prescription pills, he said. No gun was found.
The note used in the robbery was also taken by investigators as evidence, Dawkins added.
According to county booking records, bail for Jennings was set at $50,000 pending his initial court appearance.
