A black man in his twenties was shot to death late Thursday night in the 1200 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue.

Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado said officers responding to multiple calls of shots fired at 10:14 p.m. found the victim down on the sidewalk on the west side of the street with “numerous gunshot wounds.”

An area resident said she heard six shots fired and within minutes police units and a police helicopter were at the scene.

Pasadena Fire Department paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, Mercado said.

Los Angeles Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter said the victim is Brandon Douglas, 25, of Pasadena.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are not yet known. Detectives were at the scene during the night.

The homicide is Pasadena’s second in 2016.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at (626) 744-4241, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222- TIPS.
