A man suffered injuries including cuts to one of his hands as he was robbed by two men at knifepoint near Villa Parke late Friday, officials said.

The crime took place about 10 p.m. Friday night in the 300 block of East Villa Street, but wasn’t reported to police until Saturday afternoon when staff treating the injured man at a hospital realized he had been the victim of a crime and notified authorities, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.

The victim, a 48-year-old Pasadena man, relayed that he was walking along the street when he was approached from behind by two robbers, described only as male, according to the lieutenant. One of the robbers brandished a “large knife” and demanded money.

Police said the victim attempted to gain control of the knife but ended up receiving lacerations to his hand. He turned over his cash, and the robbers ran away.

The victim was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the robbery and was unable to provide a detailed description, Burgess said. In addition to the cuts on his hand, he also suffered abrasions to his neck.
