[UPDATED] A man died and a woman and three children were hospitalized with serious injuries after an SUV was involved in a rollover crash on the 134 Freeway in Pasadena on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The wreck was reported just after 2:10 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the 134 Freeway near Linda Vista Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol and Pasadena city spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
Paramedics arrived on scene to encounter a Mercedes-Benz SUV that had been in a rollover crash, Derderian said. No other vehicles were believed to have been involved.
A man estimated to be in his 20s or 30s was pronounced dead at the scene, she said. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A woman and three children were taken to hospitals with injuries described as serious, according to Derderian said.
The cause of the crash was being investigated by the CHP’s Altadena-area office.
The CHP issued a Sig Alert for the three right-hand lanes of the westbound 134 Freeway as officers from the CHP’s Altadena-area office continued their investigation. Only the fast lane and carpool lane remained passable.
The SigAlert ended and the lanes cleared at 6:22 p.m., authorities said.
