A man pulled a gun on another man and threatened to shoot him during a dispute over a missing jar of mayonnaise on Thursday, officials said.
The incident unfolded about 9:50 a.m. in the 1300 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.
A 37-year-old Pasadena man was unloading items from his truck and noticed that he had dropped a jar of mayonnaise on the ground, he said.
The man continued placing the other items indoors, then returned to pick up the jar. But he found the condiment missing.
The man noticed another man of about 60 years old sitting in a dark colored car, possibly a Honda, nearby, Burgess said.
When the victim asked the man seated in the car about the missing jar of mayonnaise, he responded by pointing a handgun at the victim and threatening to shoot him, according to the lieutenant. The suspect then sped away.
A detailed suspect description was not available.
