Police used a Taser to arrest a man after he assaulted his mother in Pasadena on Sunday, officials said.
The incident began about 11:25 a.m. when the suspect allegedly struck his mother in the head several times, Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.
Responding officers encountered the suspect still at the home, but he refused to cooperate with commands, the lieutenant said. They ultimately used a Taser to subdue him and take him into custody.
The victim, a woman in her 70s, did not wish to be taken to a hospital, he said.
Jasvinder S. Anand, 51, of Pasadena was booked on suspicion of elder abuse, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records.
Bail was set at $50,000 pending his initial court appearance, scheduled Tuesday in the Pasadena branch of L.A. County Superior Court.
