A man perched three stories above the ground in a construction tower crane threatened to jump to his death this morning just yards from where last Friday the body of a presumed suicide victim was found at the Metro’s parking structure for the Sierra Madre Villa Metro Gold Line Station.

Pasadena Fire Department and police units arriving at the construction site in the 3300 block of East Foothill Boulevard about 7:30 a.m. located the man inside the tower of the crane.

A Pasadena Police Department negotiating team arrived on scene and established communications with the subject, authorities said.

After one hour of negotiations, the team was able to convince the subject to come down on his own.

The unidentified male was evaluated by emergency medical personnel and then was taken into custody by police officers for a mental health evaluation, officials said.
