With mail-in ballot results announced first, incumbent Gene Masuda was holding a commanding early lead Tuesday night in voting for the Pasadena City Council District 4 seat he’s held since 2011.
Masuda had 1,023 votes, or 63.15 percent, as of about 8:50 p.m. He was followed by Joe Baghdadlian (277 votes, 17.10 percent), Charlotte Bland (228 votes, 14.07 percent) and Kevin Wheeler (92 votes, 5.58 percent), according to results announced on the website of the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
At the end of the night, if no candidate gets 50 percent of the vote, there will be a runoff in November between the top two vote-getters. Polls closed at 8 p.m.
District 4 encompasses East Pasadena, including the neighborhoods of Upper Hastings Ranch, Lower Hastings Ranch, Daisy-Villa, Eaton Blanche, East Eaton Wash, Eaton Canyon Wash, East Orange Grove, Fox Ridge/Canyon Close, Loma Vista, Sierra Madre Villa, and Victory Rose.
