Michaels’ Goes On a Holiday Hiring Spree

Michaels, an arts and crafts retail chain with an outlet at 1155 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, will be hiring more than 20,000 seasonal positions at its more than 1,200 U.S. and Canada stores and distribution centers in preparation for the 2021 holiday season.

In a statement released Tuesday, the Michaels Companies, Inc. said they will be hosting a seasonal hiring event in U.S. stores on Aug. 28 and in Canadian stores on Sept. 18. Both events will be held from noon to 4 p.m. local times.

“At Michaels, we’re here for the Makers! Our priority is to serve our customers safely and efficiently in our stores and online,” said Joe Venezia, EVP-stores and chief operating officer. “We are proud to have such an amazing, passionate and creative team in a fun and supportive workplace. Our seasonal team members are important to helping us create the best, most seamless arts and crafts shopping experience.”

Michaels in Pasadena carries a range of seasonal wares, including Christmas products, cards, ornaments, and decorations, as well as supplies for birthdays, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and Valentine’s Day. Michaels also offers wedding favors, such as wedding invitations, bridal accessories, decorations, guest books, place cards, and floral products.

The statement said seasonal employees benefit from competitive wages, flexible hours, and a 30% discount, as well as “an exciting and supportive work environment rooted in a culture that encourages passion and creativity.”

The company said they hired more than 50% of seasonal in-store positions into regular roles last year following the holidays. Many seasonal workers go on to become members of store management teams, making these seasonal roles a long-term opportunity.

Michaels operates more than 1,270 stores in 49 states and in Canada, and sells online through www.Michaels.com and www.Michaels.ca.

The Michaels Companies, Inc. also owns Artistree, which manufactures custom and specialty framing merchandise. The company was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Irving, Texas.
