When two separate fires struck Pasadena Monday afternoon, other cities responded to assist and both fires were extinguished without injury, according to authorities.

The first fire erupted in a one-story home shortly after 4 p.m. in the 200 block of Stanton Street. As Pasadena Fire Dept. crews battled that blaze, a garage fire broke out in the 900 block of South Pasadena Ave. about 5 p.m., the Pasadena Fire Dept. reports.

Fire units from Pasadena and South Pasadena, Glendale, and Monterey Park and Pasadena were dispatched to the garage fire and reported a fence and debris fire that had extended to the garage of a one story home, authorities say.

The garage fire was quickly extinguished. Authorities report an estimated $15,500 in damage.

The Stanton Street fire, which apparently started at the rear of the home, severely damaged the home and caused an estimated $475,000 in damage, authorities estimate.

According to the Pasadena Fire Dept., the occupants were not at home. There were no injuries reported. The cause of that  fire is currently under investigation.
