Monrovia School Disinfected After Possible Coronavirus Contact

A Monrovia school held classes on Thursday after being scrubbed down and disinfected on Wednesday as a precautionary measure.

According to district officials, the decision to disinfect Clifton Middle school was made after it became known that a parent of two students who works in the health care industry could have come into contact with someone infected with the Coronavirus.

According to a statement by the district, the parent has isolated the family at home, but they are not sick and are not showing any symptoms of the virus.

“In speaking directly with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, no risk is posed when no symptoms are present,” said Superintendent Katherine Thorossian in the statement.

No schools have been closed.

Educational resources will be provided to the students during their isolation period. It is not known how the students will receive the resources or educational instruction.

“In keeping with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, we will continue promoting healthy practices, such as frequent hand washing, that are known to impede the spread of the illness,” the statement said.
