More Hot Weather Plagues Southland

Temperatures near 100 will scorch Pasadena on Wednesday as the latest heat wave continues.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Pasadena will reach 97 degrees on Wednesday.

Temperatures in Pasadena will dip to 92 degrees on Tuesday, before falling into the 80s for the weekend.

Another heat advisory will be in effect today from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. in Los Angeles, Malibu, Santa Monica, Beverly

Hills, and Long Beach and in Orange County, both inland and along the coast.

“Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur,” warned the National Weather Service. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay

in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.”

As was the case Tuesday, no red flag warnings were issued today despite an “elevated fire danger,” with forecasters saying wind strengths do not quite warrant the issuance of such warnings.

The NWS said the sun would shine in L.A. County today, along with highs of 81 in Avalon and on Mount Wilson; 88 at LAX; 94 in Long Beach and Saugus; 96 in Downtown L.A.; 97 in Palmdale, Lancaster and Burbank; and 100 in Woodland Hills. Temperatures will be only a few degrees lower Thursday — though 10 degrees lower in Downtown L.A., and 10 degrees lower in several communities on Friday.

Sunny skies were also forecast in Orange County, along with highs of 76 on Santiago Peak; 83 in Laguna Beach; 84 in San Clemente; 85 in Newport Beach; 87 on Ortega Highway at 2,600 feet; 93 at Fremont Canyon; 95 at Trabuco Canyon; 97 in Yorba Linda, Irvine and Mission Viejo; 98 in Anaheim; and 99 in Fullerton. Highs will be around 10 degrees cooler Thursday, then mostly go into the 70s on Friday.
