Nearly 70% of Pasadenans Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19

Roughly 83% of residents have received at least one dose

Just under 70% of Pasadena residents over the minimum eligible age of 12 had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday, officials said.

While 69.7% of city residents have been fully vaccinated, 82,8% of the city population has received at least one dose of two-dose vaccine regimens, according to the Pasadena Public Health Department.

Local health officials listed four new infections and no deaths on Tuesday.

The city has seen a total of 11,294 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 347 deaths.

Over the prior week, the average number of infections detected daily in the city declined to 1.1, according to city data.

Huntington Hospital officials reported treating five COVID-19 patients as of Tuesday, with one being treated in an intensive care unit.

Los Angeles County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer said she was encouraged by continued progress as the county reported 108 new COVID-19 infections and 3 deaths on Tuesday.

“Our metrics continue to improve, and we continue to see declines in cases, hospitalizations and deaths,” she said. “Vaccinations are saving lives and I ask each of you to continue keeping yourself, your friends, and your family members safe by getting vaccinated if you haven’t done so already. We end this pandemic with vaccinations.”

In total, county health officials have recorded 1,244,161 cases of the virus and 24,246 fatalities.

Of 259 hospitalized COVID-19 patients throughout the county, 17% were being treated in ICU’s, according to an L.A. County Department of Public Health statement.

At the state level, authorities reported 423 infections and 10 deaths on Tuesday, raising the statewide totals to 3,685,455 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 62.021 deaths.

The state’s average positivity rate over the prior week held steady at 0.7%, according to California Department of Public Health data.

As of Tuesday, L.A. County accounted for 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 39% of the state’s deaths.
