Police arrested a Pasadena man after a woman reported shortly after noon that he pointed a handgun at her. The incident occurred in the 600 block of East Walnut St., where both the victim and the suspect reside in adjacent apartments.

According to Pasadena Police Watch Commander Lieutenant Sean Dawkins, the victim and the suspect have an ongoing dispute over noise. The victim said she had knocked on the suspect’s door to complain about loud music.

Upon opening his door, the suspect reportedly pointed a handgun at the victim.  She quickly retreated to her apartment and called the police.

When officers arrived on the scene, they contacted the suspect by phone and asked him to come outside, but he initially refused, Dawkins said.

More officers were called to the location, and negotiations with the suspect lasted for several hours before he finally surrendered without any further incident or use of force.

Dawkins said officers recovered a pepper ball gun from the suspect’s location, but no handgun was found.

Michael McCoy, 42, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and was held on $30,000 bail. He was released on later Sunday after posting bond.

There were no reported injuries from the incident.
