Nonprofit Elizabeth House to Dedicate Its Residential Home to Founder and Retiring Executive Director Debbie Unruh

Pasadena nonprofit Elizabeth House will dedicate its residential home to Founder and Executive Director Debbie Unruh on April 20 in honor of her retirement and her 29 years of devoted service to the San Gabriel Valley community. The event will take place from 2:00-2:30 p.m. at 760 Santa Barbara St. in Pasadena, and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and unveiling of a bronze plaque.

Elizabeth House was founded in 1994 and takes a trauma-informed approach to break the cycles of homelessness, abuse, and suffering. The organization empowers pregnant and parenting women in need through shelter and lifelong support, helping them reclaim their lives and build successful family legacies. 

Elizabeth House is the only residential program in the San Gabriel Valley that serves both pregnant mothers and their children up to the age of five, with wrap-around services and a robust alumni program. Over almost three decades, the organization has helped 375 women, 602 children/grandchildren, and seen 325 babies born through its program.

The ribbon-cutting and dedication event will be hosted by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce, and additional parking will be available at Pasadena Covenant Church. 

Next month, Elizabeth House will also host “Oh, the Places She’ll Go!” a retirement celebration and champagne brunch on Saturday, May 27th at 10:30 a.m. to honor Unruh’s years of service to the nonprofit.
