Of Burgers and Weddings

It may seem incongruous at first, but burgers and weddings can apparently exist in the same space, as Andrea Ament's experience proves

Traditionalists would have you believe that burgers and weddings are so far apart from the “making sense” spectrum that to combine both is akin to wearing a clown suit to a funeral.

Andrea Ament would have you think otherwise. You see, Ament got married last year and her caterer that day was none other than Rounds Burgers.

Founded in 2011 by brothers George and Charbel Ghaby, Rounds Premium Burgers is a four-location restaurant mini-chain that offers a new twist on the classic American burger stand. The Pasadena location is on Lake Avenue just above Colorado Blvd.

The whole idea of bringing in the Rounds Burgers truck to serve Ament’s wedding’s guests kicked off because of an issue with the reception venue.

“The venue had a lot of fire instructions so we couldn’t risk bringing in a caterer,” says Ament, “There’s no kitchen. It’s a very outdoor venue, so I was thinking ‘food trucks.’”

Then Ament came across Rounds Burgers online, liked what she saw, and told her husband (to be), “This looks great!”

The couple decided to put Rounds to a taste test.

Visiting a food truck event in North Hollywood, Ament and her husband went over to the Rounds truck. George Saade, the food truck owner, “was just so nice!” she says. “He gave us a sample of a couple of different burgers and fries,” explains Ament.

What happened next was a revelation of sorts for Ament, who still is enthusiastic.

“We were blown away by the burgers. They’re delicious! Amazing, great ingredients,” she says.

Thoroughly impressed, Ament and her husband (to be) told George, right there and then, “The food is great. Let’s do this.” Details were finalized and the marriage of burgers and weddings was underway.

The food truck was booked, and as the wedding date drew near, Ament’s husband drew a food truck on the invitations and guests were given little cards with a menu that said, as Ament explains, “’Please pick a burger and your kind of fries…’ .”

The approach was non-traditional, exactly what Ament wanted, but as word grew about the food truck at her wedding, many wanted to get invited just to experience Rounds Burgers at the wedding.

“We actually had people ask, ‘Can you please invite us?’ A few people, I was like, ‘You’re a complete stranger, I can’t’ ,” says Ament with a laugh.

Ament adds that though wedding receptions traditionally have good food, it’s of the steak and salad variety.

“It just kind of gets boring and it’s not very memorable. But you have the Rounds Burger’s food truck and it’s ‘Okay, this is different. This is fun. It’s a party.'”

For a Food Truck to cater a wedding, it’s a testament how deliciously amazing Rounds’ burgers are. If you would like to book the food truck for any event, be it formal or informal, contact info@roundsburgers.com. For more information, visit www.roundsburgers.com.
