An online fund to help the family of a 10-year-old Pasadena boy shot multiple times in front of his home near Villa Parke on Sunday afternoon raised more than its $10,000 goal overnight.
The boy, identified by loved ones as Mario Ramirez, was seriously wounded on Valentine’s Day when he was caught in crossfire from two or three men who suddenly began shooting in the area of Parke Street and Garfield Ave., according to Pasadena police Lt. William Grisafe.
The young victim was conscious and alert when taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, officials said. An official update on the boy’s condition was not available.
“Family and friends continue to pray for Mario every day,” according to a statement accompanying the fundraiser. “He is currently in stable condition.”
“Upon full recovery, Doctors advise that Mario will require extensive physical therapy among other things to aid in his recovery process.”
The funding page can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/recovery-for-mario-ramirez . It garnered more than $3,000 in donations within an hour of being posted on Monday night.
