Opinion: Councilman Steve Madison Endorses Jacque Robinson for Mayor

Councilman Steve Madison, recently re-elected to his fifth term as Councilman representing District 6 of the City of Pasadena, has added his name to the growing list of local leaders and organizations endorsing Jacque Robinson for Mayor.

Madison says, “The upcoming Mayoral runoff election offers a clear choice between two candidates who are completely different in almost every significant way. I’m supporting Vice Mayor Jacque Robinson for Mayor and I hope you do too.”

“As I prepare to begin my fifth term on the City Council, I believe the most important qualities to be an effective Mayor are integrity, an open, inclusive leadership style that is respectful of the entire community, the seven other Councilmembers, all the stakeholders, and leads to consensus around positive solutions. I have worked very closely with Jacque on the Council, on two Council committees (Public Safety and Legislative Policy) and on the Bob Hope Burbank Airport Commission. I have seen how she listens with an open mind, and then works collaboratively to address the important issues facing us. Jacque has impeccable integrity and she will be a warm, positive representative for our great City, following in the footsteps of my close friend Bill Bogaard, who as you know is stepping down after 16 exemplary years as Mayor. Vice Mayor Jacque Robinson will be a great Mayor for all of Pasadena, and I respectfully urge you to join me in supporting her.”

Madison’s Council District includes the west side of the Rose Bowl Stadium and Arroyo Seco as well as the Old Pasadena business district. His endorsement comes on the heels of Robinson earning the highly respected public safety endorsement from the Pasadena Police Officers Association last week.

“I’m honored that Councilman Madison has stepped forward in such a public way to support my candidacy for Mayor. I have always respected the high level of engagement and passion he holds for issues important to the residents of his District while also being open to differing opinions. I look forward to continuing my service alongside him as Mayor.”
