Out With the Old, In With the New

Some people just have an aversion to change. But what if the change can give you everything you liked about things before the change and more? Oh, yeah, and it means you can get things at a discount, too.

Livin’ Art will be closing its doors later this summer. Meanwhile, De-Cor will open (and absorb the Livin’ Art store) in a new 10,000 square foot showplace at 30 South San Gabriel Boulevard in Pasadena.

“We’re very excited because I think most of its existing customers at Livin Art are going to be happy with the new store and I think we’re going to be offer some new things to customers at the De-Cor store,” states Ricardo Chavez, Marketing Manager.

“What you will find at De-Cor is not what you find here at Livin Art,” Chavez explains. “Things have changed and we are adding more. Yes, we have Indian pieces, but we have changed a bit. We’re more global now with African things and Asian pieces. We have Buddha sculptures, stone work, patio furniture, things like that.”

Technically, the old store is closing, but it has evolved into a new store with, not just Indian items but, lots of unique furniture.

“Everything we’ve got at Livin Art, is going to stay there and we’re going to sell it. It’s meant to be there and it’s meant to be sold,” says Chavez. “But we have a container coming for De-Cor next month and we don’t have space for it.

“When we get a container that we don’t get that often, we get one or two and then we get something else. That’s the idea of special pieces,” Chavez explains. “We still have a splash of color. We want to keep that. But we’ve incorporated a lot more things in the new store.”

So, what kind of discounts can people expect at the Livin Art store as it prepares to close?

“To start with, everything is going to be 40-60% off,” says Chavez. “We’re going to be more aggressive on the bigger pieces, the ones that might be more difficult to move to the new location. Toward the end we’ll get more aggressive than 40-60% off.”
