Pasadena City College is pleased to announce Tom LaDuke as the 2013 Artist-in-Residence. His exhibit, titled “ellipsis,” will be on display in the PCC Art Gallery, from Feb. 20 to March 29.

On Monday, March 18, LaDuke will give a public lecture in PCC’s Vosloh Forum at 7 p.m. followed by a reception for the artist in the Art Gallery, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. A formal presentation of LaDuke’s artwork, which is being donated to the college, will be held on Friday, March 22, at 1 p.m. in the PCC Art Gallery.

LaDuke is a painter and sculptor known for meticulously crafted works that, in the words of the Los Angeles Times, explore “the region between perception and reality.”

His work is found in numerous public collections, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, the Jumex Collection in Mexico City, the Portland Art Museum in Oregon, and in the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Recently, his one-person exhibitions have been held at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia, the CRG Gallery in New York, and the Angles Gallery in Los Angeles.

“We are delighted to be able to bring Tom and his work to campus,” said Brian Tucker, PCC Art Gallery director. “I expect that his residency will prove inspirational for many of our students.”

LaDuke will spend the week of March 18 on campus, where he’ll meet with students and create new work for the PCC art collection.

Admission is free to the Art Gallery. For more information, visit www.pasadena.edu/air.
