A gas station store on East Foothill Blvd. in Pasadena was robbed Thursday when a medium-built suspect in his 40s pointed a handgun at the store clerk and took the money in the cash register.

This was the first of at least two apparently unrelated armed robberies reported overnight to the Pasadena Police Department.

Lt. Mark Goodman said a suspect, described as Hispanic male, about five foot five inches and wearing dark clothing, entered the USA gas station in the 2800 block of East Foothill Blvd. and pretended to purchase some items.

“He came in, grabbed some items and then went to the cash register pretending that he was going to pay for them,” Goodman said. “When the witness opened the cash register, the suspect produced a handgun and took the money in the till.”

The suspect then fled on foot from the store. Goodman said there were no injuries in that incident.

In another incident at about 3:49 a.m. Friday, a man who was eating inside Denny’s Restaurant, located at 2627 e Colorado Blvd., saw another man take his bicycle which he has parked outside.

Goodman said the owner had placed his bicycle outside and sat in a place in the restaurant where he could see it.

“The suspect approached the bicycle, took possession of it and started walking away with the bicycle,” Goodman said. “The victim went outside and yelled at the suspect to stop and give the bike back, but the suspect produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim. That dissuaded the victim from pursuing the suspect any further.”

The suspect fled on the bicycle and has not been located, Luna said.

Goodman described the suspect in this case as between 25 and 40 years old, had on a dark colored baseball hat, wearing dark-colored clothing, and armed with a handgun.

Anyone with information about either of the incidents or about the suspects is asked to call the Pasadena Police Department, (626) 744-4501.
