Parsons is pleased to announce that its Chairman, CEO, and President, Charles L. “Chuck” Harrington, has been named a new member of the National Academy of Construction (NAC). NAC is made up of industry leaders whose present or past professional careers demonstrated outstanding contributions to the effectiveness of the engineering and construction industry.

“I am honored to be among the select group of the National Academy of Construction,” said Harrington. “Parsons has been leading the construction industry for more than 50 years, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with my peers. The National Academy of Construction is comprised of leaders who have dedicated their careers to improving and advancing the profession of construction and I share that dedication.”

Mr. Harrington has more than 30 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry. He became CEO and then Chairman of Parsons in 2008, and was named President of the corporation in 2009. In addition to his responsibilities at Parsons, he serves on the boards of AES Corporation and the J.G. Boswell Company. Mr. Harrington also serves on several nonprofit boards, including the Business-Higher Education Forum, the California Science Center Foundation Board of Trustees, and the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Foundation Board of Directors, and he is Chairman of the Cal Poly President’s Council of Advisors. In late 2014, he was honored by the New York Building Congress with a 2015 Industry Recognition Award.

The National Academy of Construction, established in 1999, is an organization of industry leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the engineering and construction industry. In addition to being a personal honor, election to the Academy allows members to volunteer their expertise to a variety of organizations, governmental and nongovernmental, for the betterment of the industry as a whole. The 2015 class included 26 new inductees. More than 250 industry leaders were considered for the NAC’s rigorous nomination and election process. The election of members to the NAC follows a peer-nomination and peer-selection process that creates a select candidate list. The new members are then elected out of that candidate list by the entire academy. For more information, visit http://nationalacademyofconstruction.com/.
