Pasadena-Based EMS Laboratories Has New Owner

EMS Laboratories, Inc., located at 117 W Bellevue Drive in Pasadena, has been acquired by EMSL Analytical, Inc., a leading environmental testing firm based in Cinnaminson, NJ and doing business as LA Testing.

As of December 16, 2015, the current EMS facility has been consolidated into EMSL Analytical’s network of laboratories in Pasadena, Sierra Madre and Garden Grove. EMSL Analytical has also retained the majority of the EMS staff and offers a seamless transition while continuing to provide excellent quality and customer service.

EMS started providing electron microscopy services in 1968 and held the first contract with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for effluent analysis using the transmission electron microscope or TEM. By 1986, they were fully accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) for all analytes, and became a leading provider of asbestos and industrial hygiene services.

Providing quality analysis since 1981, EMSL Analytical is a nationally recognized and locally focused provider of environmental, indoor air quality, consumer product and materials testing services and products for professionals and the general public. The company has an extensive list of accreditations from leading organizations as well as state and federal regulating bodies.

EMSL’s acquisition of EMS will add continued expertise in industrial hygiene, asbestos and lead, environmental and hazardous waste, organics and inorganics, particle, trace metal and optical mineralogy testing services.

With this acquisition, the EMSL Analytical network now operates 41 testing laboratories with 800 employees throughout the United States and Canada.

EMSL Analytical is also an authorized distributor for manufacturers of air sampling pumps, equipment, sampling cassettes and monitoring equipment. EMSL Analytical also hosts frequent training workshops and free webinars.
