Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, a nonprofit that serves 2,000 local children and youth with after-school and summer programs, has received a $50,000 grant from The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation.
The grant will support the general operations and programs of the 86-year-old organization, which offers academic, healthy lifestyle, and leadership and character development activities for its members.
Lisa Cavelier, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, said the grant will help the Club meet the unprecedented academic, social and emotional needs of its members, especially amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our Club now provides intensive case management and numerous wellness and social-emotional programs, in addition to our signature programs,” Cavelier said. “We are so pleased that The Parsons Foundation understands and values our work in the community and with our members.”
The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation is a Los Angeles-based philanthropic organization established in 1961 by the founder of Parsons Corporation in Pasadena. Since 1976, the Foundation has become fully independent of the company. The Foundation has been working to help improve the well-being of Los Angeles County residents.
The Foundation has also been a longtime partner of Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, supporting its mission to enrich the lives of young people and enable them to reach their full potential as productive, caring, healthy, and responsible citizens.
Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena operates two clubhouses in Pasadena: the Slavik Branch at 3230 East Del Mar Blvd. and the Mackenzie-Scott Branch at 2020 North Fair Oaks Ave. The Club serves children and youth ages 5 to 18 year-round, providing a welcoming, safe and positive environment for learning and fun.
