Budget workshops continue on Thursday when two of the City’s operating companies go before the City Council’s Economic Development and Technology Committee.

The Pasadena Center Operating Company and the Pasadena Community Access Corporation will make presentations on their fiscal year 2025 budgets.

According to the City Manager’s transmittal letter, the Pasadena Center Operating Company budget will increase to $27,892,000 and the Pasadena Community Access Corporation budget will increase to $1,206,000.

Pasadena Community Access Corporation, which includes Pasadena Media — the City’s public access station, and regularly airs government meetings in the City Council chambers — has expanded its meeting coverage to include commission meetings held at Robinson Park Recreation Center.

The community media training curriculum has also been expanded.

The Pasadena Center Operating Company promotes Pasadena as a meeting and travel destination in an effort to maximize economic impact through the development of meetings, conventions, entertainment events and tourism by providing professionally managed facilities and first-class service, according to a presentation contained in the Economic Development and Technology Committee agenda.

This year, revenues are expected to grow by 3% over the fiscal year 2024 budget. Expenses will grow to meet event demand and inflation (6.2%). Transient Occupancy Tax and Tourism Business Improvement District funding are expected to grow by 3%.

However, after years of significant growth, Ice Rink revenue and participation are leveling off. According to the presentation, revenues remain strong.

The discussions are a part of the City’s budget process, which began last summer.

The City Council opened budget hearings on the City’s proposed $1.1 billion budget on May 6, and will conclude them on May 28. The City Council is expected to adopt the budget on June 10
